Hi everyone! I am so sorry that I have not updated the blog recently, but please expect many upcoming blog posts. Today I will be telling you about many different community service opportunities coming up in the months of October and November.
On October 31st, Kayla Spigelman will be hosting "Trick or Treat, Food to Eat". During this program, kids will be going from house to house on the night of Halloween and instead of "trick-or-treating" for candy, they will be collecting non-perishable foods for local food banks. All of the canned food will feed the hungry in our own communities during this holiday season. If you are interested in participating (whether donating or collecting canned goods), please contact Kayla at musicstar223@bellsouth.net.
On November 6th, Hands On Miami is hosting its annual Hands On Miami Day. Hands On Miami Day is their largest annual day of service and a critical fundraiser that supports their year-round programming and volunteer projects. The last day to sign up for HOM Day is on November 1st. If you are interested in participating please go to the HOM website at handsonmiami.org.
On November 20th and 21st, The Children's Bereavement Center will be hosting a movie premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1. Tickets are $25 and the event will be held at Paragon Grove 13 (3015 Grand Avenue, Coconut Grove) at 10:00 AM on both days. Please contact Kathy Kramer at kaokramer@childbereavement.org if you would like to purchase tickets or volunteer at the event.
On Tuesday, November 23rd at 5:00 PM at the Bet Breira Samu-el Or Olam Ballroom (9400 SW 87th Avenue), the Jewish Volunteer Center of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation will be creating thanksgiving meals for the hungry. This program is titled "Everything, but the Turkey!" If you are interested in participating please email volunteer@gmjf.org.
If you have community service opportunities that you would like to post on the Virtual Community Service Bulletin Board, please contact me at mespigel@gmail.com. If you want to discover new ways to make an impact to our community, please become a follower of my blog. Remember, we can all make a difference, one click at a time!
